The IRS has relayed some information about the Equifax data breach that affected around 143 million tax payers that although it exposed names, social security numbers, and addresses it would be near impossible to use this to file a fraudulent return and receive money from the IRS. The security summit has 37 data point filters and other new processes in place that would prevent the processing of a return without additional filing information. If taxpayers are affected or feel they are compromised they can file IRS form 14039 Identity Theft Affidavit.
